The band are delighted to announce that our Repiano Cornet player, Emma Brown, has been selected as one of only two players to represent Scotland with the European Youth Brass Band in Palanga, Lithuania, this spring.
Emma, a product of the Bathgate Band Youth Development Programme, has also been a regular participant in the National Youth Brass Band of Scotland (NYBBS). In recognition of her dedication and contribution to NYBBS, she was appointed as a NYBBS Ambassador in 2023. Her selection to join the European Youth Brass Band, is the next step on her exciting musical journey.
When asked about her selection, Emma said “I’m over the moon to get this opportunity and I’m so excited about going to Palagna and meeting up and playing with other talented players from across Europe.” Bathgate Band’s President Gerry Duggan added “We are all super pleased for Emma. As well as being a great recognition for her and her commitment, it is also a great reflection of the environment we are creating across our Bathgate Band family. We aim to offer an environment where youth can learn, grow, and progress through the band structure and Emma is a perfect example of this”.
The European Youth Brass Band provides a platform for young musicians to come together, exchange experiences, and celebrate musical diversity. Emma’s participation not only reflects her individual achievement but also highlights the vibrant music culture thriving within West Lothian and Scotland.
Good Luck from all of us Emma!
