Solid Performance as Band Returns to Championship Section

On Sunday, 10 March the band took to the stage in Perth Concert hall to take part in the annual SBBA Scottish Championships. Following the band’s second place finish in the “First Section” category last year, the band returned to competing in the top tier “Championship Section” for the first time since March 2019. The test piece was the challenging ‘Variations on an Enigma’ by Philip Sparke and saw The Cooperation Band, Glasgow run out as winners.

Our band produced a solid performance on the day and was rewarded with a creditable seventh place. The performance was the culmination of several months of hard work for the band, and our conductor Craig Anderson, that tested each of the sections within it to the limit. The band took the challenge head on and saw a very steady progression in playing performances by all in the band right up until taking the stage on contest day.

Now, following a well deserved week off, the band will return to the rehearsal room to start preparations for our next contest, the Fife Brass Band Festival in April.
