Bathgate Procession Gets The Marching Season Underway

Friday, 31 May saw the band kick-off this year’s marching season in a familiar way. The band took part in performances at the homes of the processions Principal Characters (Marjorie and Walter) before supporting the official Oration performed by Stephen Gallacher at the town’s High Church. The evening was well received and was the perfect prelude to the main event.

On 1 June, the band once again had the honour of leading the way in the 2024 Bathgate Procession and Community Festival. A warm, sunny day saw hundreds line the streets throughout Bathgate as the band (along with many others) marched through the town on the way to Meadow Park where the day’s activities were held. A full turnout was on parade along with many of our youth band members who helped to ensure that the day’s celebrations got off to the best possible start.
It was also our privilege to be able to take the spirit of the procession to the Meadowvale Care Home. This has become a regular event for the band and it feels great that we’re able to share the occasion and fun of the day with those people who, for whatever reason, are unable to attend.

All in all, it was a brilliant start to a busy marching season which will also see the band taking part in these other events:
– East Calder Gala Day – Saturday, 8th June
– Linlithgow Marches – Tuesday,18th June
– Linlithgow and Linlithgow Bridge Children’s Gala Day – Saturday, 22nd June
– Bo’ness Children’s Fair Festival – Friday, 28th June
We hope you’re able to come along and give us a cheer!
