November Highlights
November was a fantastic month for us at Bathgate Band, filled with performances and celebrations. Here’s a recap of what we’ve been up to, along with exciting events ahead this December.
Bathgate Remembrance Parade
We were honoured to once again take part in the Bathgate Remembrance Parade on Sunday 10th, where we paid tribute to those who served and sacrificed. It was a reflective occasion for the whole band, and we are privileged to contribute to such an important community event.
Scottish Open Brass Band Championship
On Saturday 23rd, the band performed Hypercube by Oliver Waespi, a piece originally commissioned for the Paris Brass Band, at the Scottish Open in Perth. The performance was a thrilling experience, and it was a real highlight for everyone involved. Although the band was happy with their performance, we left feeling a little disappointed with the results. Nevertheless, we continue to learn and grow from every experience, and the feedback will help us improve moving forward.
Scottish Youth Brass Band Championships
Bathgate Youth Band shone at the Scottish Youth Brass Band Championships in Perth on Sunday 24th, performing an energetic and diverse set including Gonna Fly Now Ghostbusters, Lloyd, and Baggy Trousers. Their efforts were rewarded with a Silver Award, and we couldn’t be prouder of their hard work and dedication!
Looking Ahead to December
We’ve got a festive line-up of events for you this December—get ready for some Christmas cheer!
East Calder Santa Parade
We’re kicking off the festive season in East Calder on Sunday 1st, where we’ll be bringing holiday tunes to the Santa Parade. It’s always a fun day, with a great atmosphere, so come along and join us in celebrating the start of the Christmas season.
Bathgate Christmas Light Switch-On
On Saturday 7th, we’ll be part of the Bathgate Christmas Light Switch-On, one of the town’s key festive events. Once again, we’re excited to be performing alongside our friends from Kirkton Brass Bathgate, helping to bring the Christmas spirit to life with festive music as we light up the town for the season.
Carolling at Tesco Bathgate
Join us at Tesco Bathgate on Saturday 14th for a fun afternoon of carolling as you do your Christmas shopping. We’ll be playing all your favourite festive tunes, and it’s the perfect opportunity to get into the holiday spirit while picking up your essentials.
Annual Christmas Concert
Our annual Christmas concert is on Monday 16th this year, and it promises to be extra special. We’ll be joined by Bathgate Youth Band and some very special guests from Boghall & Bathgate Pipe Band. It’s a night of festive music and community spirit you won’t want to miss, so grab your tickets now on our website!
Carolling at Livingston Designer Outlet
We’ll be performing at Livingston Designer Outlet on Thursday 19th, spreading festive cheer while you finish up your Christmas shopping. Come along to join in the fun and get into the holiday mood.
Carolling at Morrisons Bathgate
We’ll wrap up our carolling season on Sunday 22nd at Morrisons Bathgate. It’s your last chance to catch us performing before Christmas, so pop by for some carols and enjoy the community spirit with us!
